Using Slack as deal context in Sybill

Let Sybill learn from the customer and internal Slack conversations that shape your deals, and control exactly which channels Sybill can read.

A lot of sales conversations happen outside calls and email.

A prospect might confirm next steps in a shared Slack channel. Your AE and manager might work through deal strategy in an internal sales channel. A buyer might introduce a new stakeholder or raise an objection in Slack days after your last meeting.

With Slack ingest, those conversations can become part of the context Sybill uses to understand your deals.

Instead of important information disappearing inside Slack, Sybill can bring it together with your calls, emails, CRM data, and other deal context.

What does Slack ingest do?

When Slack ingest is enabled, Sybill can read conversations from the Slack channels you've allowed it to access and use relevant information as additional context.

This can include both:

  • External Slack conversations with prospects and customers

  • Internal Slack conversations where your team discusses accounts and deals

This gives Sybill a more complete picture of what's happening between meetings.

Example: A prospect confirms next steps in Slack

Imagine an AE finishes a demo and creates a shared Slack channel with the prospect.

After the meeting, the AE posts the agreed next steps in the channel and the prospect continues the conversation there.

Without Slack context, your meeting recording tells Sybill what happened during the demo, but the conversation that happened afterward may be missing.

With Slack ingest enabled for that channel, Sybill can learn from the Slack conversation too. The next time someone asks Sybill about the deal, it can work from more of the context that has accumulated across the relationship.

Example: Your team strategizes about a deal internally

Slack also contains context that your buyer may never say directly.

Your AE, manager, solutions engineer, or leadership team might discuss:

  • Why a deal is at risk

  • How to approach a particular stakeholder

  • An objection that needs to be resolved

  • What happened in an offline conversation

  • A strategy for the next meeting

  • Internal concerns about the opportunity

  • A commitment someone on your team made to the buyer

If that conversation happens in a Slack channel Sybill is allowed to read, it can become part of the context Sybill has about the deal.

Connect Slack to Sybill

To set up Slack:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations in Sybill.

  2. Select Slack.

  3. Connect your Slack workspace if it isn't already connected.

  4. Open the Channels section to configure which channels Sybill reads.

Once connected, you can control Slack ingest at both the workspace and channel level. Please note that Sybill only reads from Slack channels where one of the Sybill workspace recorders is a member.

The Workspace channels table

All of your Slack channels appear in the Workspace channels table under Settings > Integrations > Slack > Channels:

Each channel has two controls:

Setting

What it does

Read

Sybill ingests conversations from this channel and can use them as deal context

Share with Team

The channel's context is available to your whole team. Turn this off to keep the context available only to people who are members of that channel

For example, set a shared prospect channel to Read with Share with Team on so the whole team benefits from it. For a sensitive internal channel, keep Read on but turn Share with Team off so its context stays private to the channel's members. And for channels with no deal relevance, simply turn Read off.

Please note that changes affect new messages only.

Search, filters, and bulk actions

Enterprise workspaces often have hundreds of channels, so the channels table includes tools to manage them quickly:

  • Search: Find channels by name.

  • Quick filters: Narrow the list by Read status, Share with Team status, Access (public or private), and Type (internal or external).

  • Bulk actions: Select multiple channels, or everything matching your current filters, and set Read or Share with Team for all of them in one action.

  • Refresh: Re-sync the channel list from Slack whenever you've added new channels.

For example, enabling reading on all of your external channels is a single filtered selection and one bulk action, rather than one click per channel.

Why should Sybill read internal Slack channels?

Not all useful deal intelligence comes directly from the buyer. Internal conversations often contain the interpretation and strategy around a deal.

For example, a rep might tell their manager in Slack: "They liked the demo, but I'm worried that we still don't have access to the VP of Sales."

That concern may not exist in the CRM or meeting transcript, but it is important context for understanding the opportunity. Giving Sybill access to relevant internal Slack conversations helps it understand not only what the buyer has said, but also what your team knows and thinks about the deal.

What can Sybill do with Slack context?

Slack becomes another source of information Sybill can use alongside your other connected deal data. Sybill's Business and Enterprise plans currently support deal and organization context across calls, emails, CRM, and Slack.

That means Slack context can contribute when you ask questions such as:

  • What's happening with the Acme deal?

  • What are the biggest risks in this opportunity?

  • What did the buyer agree to as the next step?

  • Has anything changed since our last customer call?

  • What does our team think we should do next?

The goal isn't to make you search Slack through Sybill. It's to make sure that information relevant to the deal isn't missing simply because someone happened to say it in Slack instead of on a recorded call.

Slack ingest vs. using Ask Sybill in Slack

These are two different parts of Sybill's Slack integration.

What it does

Slack ingest

Brings relevant Slack conversations into the context Sybill uses to understand your deals

Ask Sybill in Slack

Lets your team ask Sybill questions and get deal intelligence without leaving Slack

Slack to Sybill: Conversations in approved channels give Sybill additional deal context.

Sybill to Slack: Your team can bring Sybill's deal intelligence into the place where they're already working, including meeting summary notifications sent to the channels you choose as soon as a meeting is processed.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sybill read every Slack channel?

No. Sybill only ingests channels where Read is enabled in the Workspace channels table, and it can only read channels where one of the Sybill workspace recorders is a member.

Can I stop Sybill from reading a particular channel?

Yes. Turn off Read for that channel in Settings > Integrations > Slack > Channels. Changes affect new messages only.

What if I want Sybill to use a channel without making its context available to everyone?

Keep Read on and turn Share with Team off. The channel's context then remains available only to people who are members of that channel.

Can Sybill learn from customer Slack channels?

Yes. If your team has shared Slack channels with prospects or customers, enable Read on those channels and Sybill can use those conversations as additional deal context. You can find them quickly with the Type: External filter.

Can Sybill learn from internal Slack channels?

Yes. You can allow Sybill to read relevant internal channels so conversations about deal strategy, risks, stakeholders, and next steps can contribute to Sybill's understanding of your deals.

How do I configure hundreds of channels at once?

Use the search and quick filters to narrow the list (for example, all external channels), select everything that matches, and apply Read or Share with Team in one bulk action.

Can I ask Sybill questions directly from Slack?

Yes. Sybill's Slack integration also lets you use Ask Sybill from Slack, so you can ask questions about deals, reps, or pipeline without switching back to the Sybill app.

Which Sybill plans include Slack deal context?

Sybill's current pricing includes full deal and organization context across calls, emails, CRM, and Slack on Business and Enterprise plans.

Keep your Slack conversations connected to the deal

Your team shouldn't have one version of a deal in the CRM, another in meeting notes, and another buried across Slack channels.

With Slack ingest, the customer conversations and internal strategy happening in Slack can become part of the same context Sybill uses to understand the deal. And with channel-level controls, filters, and bulk actions, you decide which conversations Sybill should learn from and which should stay out.
